FLORA FATALE

Commissioned in 2019 by the Museum of Brisbane for their major exhibition BAD@Mob, Flora Fatale is a series of five coiled vessels each with hundreds of hand-sculpted spherical protrusions and a hand-painted manganese oxide glaze. The lips of the pots fall back in on themselves, as if pulled by a gravitational force, while the undulating surfaces mimic flower stamen, fruit, and reference the golden ratio in botanical symmetry.

The works were exhibited at the Museum of Brisbane from May 10-August 11, 2019.
