Flower Pot, 2022-23
A warm field, an expanse of bright, gleaming sun, the pot is a stage where golden flowers cascade neatly and buoyantly down, one after another, repeating and repeating. The pot’s stony heft and metallic shell are answered with a softness—the undulating petals, curling and extending. The flower is an invitation, an opening. The flower is a gesture that says “here I am!” It says “shed your dead things.” It says “look—here is something that is alive.”
The first iteration of this flower pot, in white, was a finalist in the 2022 Clunes Ceramic Award. Afterwards, it was refired with 22k gold lustre and was a finalist in the 2023 Muswellbrook Art Prize.
