Flora Fatale

2019

Commissioned by the Museum of Brisbane for their Brisbane Art Design (BAD) exhibition, Flora Fatale is a series of five coiled vessels each with hundreds of hand-sculpted spherical protrusions and a hand-painted manganese oxide wash. The lips of the pots fall back in on themselves, as if pulled by a gravitational force, while the undulating surfaces mimic flower stamen, fruit, and reference the golden ratio in botanical symmetry.

These works will be on display at the Museum of Brisbane from May 10-August 11, 2019.
