Fresh Relics is an ongoing body of work produced in late 2016/early 2017 that references historical pottery forms while translating them into contemporary functional objects.

Interested in the notion of the talisman and an object’s ability to convey meaning and hold powerful significance to an individual, Nicolette constructs imaginary mythologies surrounding her work.  Each piece becomes an essential thread in the fabric of an imagined narrative.  Influenced by Etruscan and Ancient Greek pottery, Nicolette frames the vessels with bold, unapologetic handles that imbue them with importance as well as a sense of play, while the restrained colour palate of blues and natural clay place the work back into a modern context.
